Once upon a time, there was a very kind-hearted man, named Dongguo.
从前，有一个非常善良的人，名叫东郭 。
cónɡ qián，yǒu yí ɡè fēi chánɡ shàn liánɡ de rén, mínɡ jiào dōnɡ ɡuō。
One day, Mr Dongguo drove a donkey, which was carrying a sack of book, walking on his way home.
一天，东郭先生赶着一头背着一袋书的驴子，走在回家的路上。
yì tiān，dōnɡ ɡuō xiān shenɡ ɡǎn zhe yì tóu bēi zhe yí dài shū de lǘ zi，zǒu zài huí jiā de lù shɑnɡ。
Suddenly, a wolf ran out to beg Mr Dongguo for help,
突然，一只狼跑出来向东郭先生求救，
tū rán，yì zhī lánɡ pǎo chū lái xiànɡ dōnɡ ɡuō xiān shenɡ qiú jiù，
Because a hunter was running after him and wanted to kill him.
因为一个猎人在追它, 想杀了它。
yīn wèi yí ɡè liè rén zài zhuī tā，xiǎnɡ shā le tā。
The soft-hearted Dongguo hid the wolf in his sack,
心软的东郭把狼藏在他的麻袋里，
xīn ruǎn de dōnɡ ɡuō bǎ lánɡ cánɡ zài tā de má dài lǐ，
And then, he told the hunter he saw nothing.
然后，他告诉猎人，他什么也没看到。
rán hòu，tā ɡào su liè rén, tā shén me yě méi kàn dào。
After the hunter left, Mr Dongguo let the wolf out.
猎人离开后，东郭先生把狼放了出来。
liè rén lí kāi hòu，dōnɡ ɡuō xiān shenɡ bǎ lánɡ fànɡ le chū lái。
The wolf, however, wanted to eat Mr Dongguo because he was very hungry.
然而, 这只狼却想吃掉东郭先生，因为他非常饿。
rán ér，zhè zhǐ lánɡ què xiǎnɡ chī diào dōnɡ ɡuō xiān shenɡ, yīn wèi tā fēi chánɡ è。
Luckily, a clever farmer passed by, after knowing the whole things,
幸运的是, 一个聪明的农夫路过，在了解了事情的经过后，
xìnɡ yùn de shì, yí ɡè cōnɡ mínɡ de nónɡ fū lù ɡuò, zài liáo jiě liǎo shì qínɡ de jīnɡ ɡuò hòu，
The farmer asked the wolf, "The sack is so small and you are so big, how can you get into it?"
农夫问狼：“这袋子这么小，你那么大，你怎么能进去呢？”
nónɡ fū wèn lánɡ：“zhè dài zi zhè me xiǎo，nǐ nà me dà，nǐ zěn me nénɡ jìn qù ne？”
In order to show the sack is big enough for him,
为了表明袋子对他来说足够大，
wèi le biǎo mínɡ dài zi duì tā lái shuō zú ɡòu dà，
The wolf immediately got into it with legs crossed and his tail curlied up.
狼立即蜷着腿，缩着尾巴钻了进去，
lánɡ lì jí quán zhe tuǐ，suō zhe wěi bɑ zuàn le jìn qù，
The farmer hurried over, grabbed the sack up and tied it tightly,
农夫赶紧走过去，一把抓起麻袋，把口袋扎的紧紧的，
nónɡ fū ɡán jǐn zǒu ɡuò qù，yì bǎ zhuā qǐ má dài，bǎ kǒu dɑi zhā de jǐn jǐn de，
Then, struck the ungrateful wolf to death with his hoe.
然后，用他的锄头打死了这只忘恩负义的狼。
rán hòu，yònɡ tā de chú tou dǎ sǐ le zhè zhǐ wànɡ ēn fù yì de lánɡ。
The story tells us that we should never show our mercy without choice,
这个告诉我们，永远不要毫无选择地发慈悲，
zhè ɡe ɡào su wǒ men，yónɡ yuǎn bú yào háo wú xuǎn zé dì fā cí bēi，
Otherwise, it can eventually bring yourself disaster.
否则，最终会给自己带来灾难。
